Israel destroyed a Houthi power plant in Yemen

It was in response to the missile and drone attacks launched by the Yemeni group against Israel in recent weeks

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked an energy infrastructure site in Yemen that, according to military intelligence, was used by the Houthi terrorists.

The operation was carried out in response to a series of missile and drone attacks launched by the Yemeni group against Israeli territory in recent weeks.

According to reports from Army Radio, the Israeli Navy was involved in the operation and the target was reportedly the Haziz power plant, near Sana'a.

The outlet compared the action to another bombing carried out earlier this year at the port of Hodeida, also controlled by the Houthis.

Al Masirah television, spokesperson for the Yemeni rebels, reported that a power plant south of the capital was hit by an "aggression", which caused several generators to go out of service.

The channel also reported that emergency teams were working to extinguish a fire at the facilities, while residents in Sana'a said they heard at least two explosions.

Images shared on social media showed flames and columns of smoke rising from an unidentified structure.

The Houthi terrorist movement, an ally of Iran, has intensified in recent months the launching of projectiles against Israel, in what it describes as a gesture of support for the Palestinians in the war in Gaza.

The majority of missiles and drones have been intercepted by Israeli defense systems, although Jerusalem authorities have warned that they will continue to respond with military actions in Yemen
