More calls to remove Israel's opposition attorney general
Gali Baharav-Miara has used the judicial apparatus to systematically obstruct Netanyahu's projects
The ministerial committee appointed by the Israeli government voted unanimously to recommend the dismissal of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, marking a new chapter in the confrontation between Netanyahu's coalition and the judicial apparatus that has systematically obstructed the elected government's agenda.
The resolution was ratified by the five committee members: Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli (who chairs it), Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Science and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel, and Religious Services Minister Michael Malkieli.
The dismissal proposal will now be submitted to the cabinet, which may schedule a formal vote at its next meeting.

The decision comes in response to the role Baharav-Miara has played since her appointment, characterized by a pattern of constant obstruction to the actions of the right-wing government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
Since taking office, the attorney general has intervened in key decisions of the executive, blocking reforms, publicly criticizing ministers, and seeking to halt, through the courts, policies approved at the polls.
"For far too long, Gali Baharav-Miara has confused her institutional role with that of an unelected opposition figure", said an official close to the committee. "Democracy can't function when bureaucrats place themselves above the government chosen by the people."
However, the legal battle is far from over. It should be noted that Baharav-Miara is shielded by figures from the judiciary, which has become a clear opposition front against the democratically elected government of PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
