Record number of passengers at Ben Gurion Airport since the start of the war
For the first time in two years, more than 85,000 passengers will be registered in a single day
Ben Gurion International Airport will register an unprecedented flow in almost two years: more than 85,000 passengers will pass through its terminals, according to data from the Airports Authority.
This is the highest daily figure since the war broke out 22 months ago and the highest since the summer of 2023, when air traffic had recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
Of that total, about 43,700 travelers are expected to depart abroad, while more than 42,000 will arrive in the country.

The magnitude of the day contrasts with the outlook in August 2024, when the airport handled just 1.5 million international passengers, compared to the 2.8 million recorded in August 2023. In July 2024, the figure was 1.7 million.
The absolute record remains August 2019, when more than 100,000 people transited daily through Ben Gurion, before the COVID-19 pandemic and then the war caused an abrupt drop in air traffic.
The recovery not only reflects greater tourist and commercial demand, but also a renewed confidence among travelers to enter and leave Israel despite the security context.
