Tension rises at the border with Syria due to the conflict with the Druze.

The Israel Defense Forces have reinforced the border crossings, and an escalation of violence is expected

The growing violence in the Sweida region, in southern Syria, has raised alarms among Israeli Druze. The Druze spiritual leader in Israel, Sheikh Mowafak Tarif, issued a dramatic call to his community to be prepared to "cross the border by any means necessary" and help their Syrian brothers who, he stated, are being massacred.

The Israel Defense Forces have reinforced security at the border, given the possibility of an escalation of violence.

The situation in Sweida, a Druze stronghold, deteriorated rapidly after a conflict between Druze and Bedouins, which escalated into direct clashes between Syrian regime forces and local militias. At least 100 deaths have been reported.

The tension crossed borders: dozens of Israeli Druze civilians managed to infiltrate Syria from Majdal Shams to support their relatives. In addition, the Israeli army attacked Syrian tanks and bombed regime targets in Damascus and Sweida. It also announced reinforcements at the northern border.

Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, assured that the IDF will support the Druze and warned that if Damascus doesn't withdraw from Sweida, Israel will increase its attacks.

The message is clear: Israel will not allow a Druze massacre at the hands of the Syrian regime. If the State doesn't act decisively, part of its own citizens are willing to take matters into their own hands.
