Honda Will Stop Manufacturing the Hybrid Civic in Mexico

The Japanese car manufacturer chose Indiana as the place to manufacture its cars.

Honda has decided to produce its Hybrid Civic in the United States, specifically in the state of Indiana. Although initially, they had planned to produce the next generation of the Civic in Guanajuato, Mexico.

This change made by the Japanese brand comes after the announcement of the imposition of tariffs on Mexico by the United States government. Let's remember that the tariffs will be imposed as a response to the insufficient work done by Mexico's socialist government to prevent fentanyl trafficking.

Although the Mexican government has conducted military operations at the US border to prevent drug trafficking, this has been unfortunately minimal. So insignificant has been the fight against drug cartels by Sheinbaum's government, that they even pushed for a reform to protect them. Using the pretext of sovereignty.

HONDA LEAVES MEXICO AMID AN UNCERTAIN OUTLOOK.

Initially, Mexico was chosen because rising costs make it difficult to produce the car in Indiana and Canada. However, now the plan is to manufacture the new Civic in Indiana starting in May 2028, with an annual production of around 210,000 units.

Mexico has long been a low-cost production center for Japanese and other countries' automakers. Honda sends about 80% of its Mexican production to the United States.

The case of Honda underscores how potentially alarming a trade conflict with the US can be if their request is not addressed. Which is based solely on the need for Sheinbaum's socialist government to act effectively in combating drug cartels and containing illegal immigration.

The outlook looks bleak, as there has been no real commitment from the Mexican government to combat crime more and better. Causing the Trump administration to continue its line of defending the country's interests and imposing tariff taxes on us. Which would result in brands and companies gradually leaving the country.
