In a bullfight in Tlaxcala, Emilio Macías was preparing to finish off the animal, but ended up gored and evacuated.
The Mexican bullfighter Emilio Macías suffered a serious goring on Saturday at the 'La Ranchera' Bullring in Tlaxcala. When he was preparing the final thrust, he was violently caught, turned, and the animal's horn was embedded in his rectal region.
The native of Huamantla, Tlaxcala, was getting ready to kill the third bull of the afternoon and was dramatically hung on the horn for several seconds.

He immediately received medical attention as he was taken to the infirmary and later to the Hospital of Puebla for surgery.
According to various reports, Macías has already undergone surgery. The surgery lasted nine hours with a medical report that is between critical and guarded.
According to reports, the injury is complex and affected the anal and perianal region.
Emilio Macías is reported stable
The Mexican bullfighter is stable after his serious goring last Saturday in Tlaxcala.
At this moment, his life is not in danger. He suffered injuries in the rectal area, a gluteus that was destroyed by the bull's horn, and severe blows to the femur.
'The goring was very hard. I don't know how long he was on the bull's horn, hanging there, it didn't want to let him go. The doctors say there is a lot of damage to his body, although none that endangers his life at this moment. He is conscious, the goring hurt him a lot. It was his baptism of blood, he's been a bullfighter for five years and had never suffered a wound. He has been very strong and brave. The doctors have asked us to wait for the 72-hour period to pass to disclose his real medical report,'
said his brother, also a bullfighter, José María Macías.

Current debate on bullfighting in Mexico
Bullfighting has been a prominent cultural and artistic event for centuries. But in recent decades, it has been viewed with greater criticism for animal abuse.
On one hand, there are those who claim that in bullfights these animals are exposed to extreme stress situations. Added that they are injured with sharp objects and finally deprived of life.

They cause slow and progressive physical injuries, with the suffering and pain that this can represent for any sentient being.
On the other hand, there are those who agree that Bullfighting is a catalyst for the economic and social development of the regions where it is practiced.
From bullfighting, activities such as: livestock, commerce, industry, tourism, handicraft manufacturing, among others, are derived.
