In a decision that caused controversy in the field of national security, the Mexican government authorized the entry of 155 military personnel into national territory.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon announced the deployment of the battleship SS Gravely. It is equipped with Tomahawk missiles, and its destination will be the Gulf of Mexico.
This measure, decreed by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), is framed in a context of growing concern due to the incompetence and lack of results of the federal government.
The authorities maintained that, in areas identified as critical, the additional presence of troops would contribute to improving security, preventing violent acts, and strengthening coordination with local security forces.

Details of the operation and assigned functions
The contingent of 155 military personnel, composed mainly of special operations units and mobile brigades, was assigned to support patrol and surveillance tasks in high-risk areas.
The main mission of these troops will be to collaborate with state and municipal authorities in the detection and rapid response to incidents related to organized crime.
Additionally, integrated command centers will be established to allow the exchange of intelligence and coordination of joint operations, with the aim of optimizing resources and avoiding duplications in security work.
Reactions and controversies
On one hand, some analysts and civil society representatives considered that the authorization of these troops was necessary to counteract the increase in violence, especially in areas affected by drug trafficking and other serious crimes.
