Morena blocked the removal of Cuauhtémoc Blanco's immunity in the Chamber of Deputies
The ruling majority blocked the process against the former governor, accused of attempted rape.
In a move that demonstrates Morena's support for its allies, the Instructing Section of the Chamber of Deputies rejected initiating the process to remove immunity againstCuauhtémoc Blanco, former governor of Morelos and current federal legislator.
Blanco faces a complaint for attempted rape filed by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola, but the majority in power voted against admitting the request submitted by the Morelos Prosecutor's Office.

Votes against justice
The Instructing Section of the Chamber, responsible for evaluating the admissibility of immunity removals, voted mostly against admitting the request from the Morelos Prosecutor's Office.
Deputies Eric Flores and Adriana Belinda, both from Morena, along with Raúl Bolaños-Cacho Cué from PVEM, cast negative votes, while Germán Martínez, from PAN, was the only one to vote in favor of proceeding with the removal, who criticized the lack of political will to deliver justice.

Delays and lack of will
Germán Martínez expressed his discontent after the session, emphasizing the need to thoroughly review the files without delays.
Previously, the Instructing Section had postponed the discussion of the case twice, citing the lack of complete integration of the file.
The Morelos Prosecutor's Office, under the direction of Edgar Maldonado, who replaced Uriel Carmona after his dismissal, had submitted the required documentation to establish jurisdiction in the case.

Accusations and contradictions
Cuauhtémoc Blanco has denied the accusations and his relationship with the complainant. However, the opposition accuses Morena of covering up the case to avoid a political blow.
Additionally, Blanco revealed that, a day before the request for his removal was released, he reported the then-prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gándara for alleged extortion.
The rejection of Blanco's removal reinforces the narrative of impunity that has characterized the current administration, where the law seems to be applied according to the convenience of the party in power.
