She said she came to "strengthen" politics before the October 2024 election when José Mujica "appointed" her as a guaranteed candidate for the Senate on MPP's 609 list.
Since she took office in February 2025 in the Upper House, she hasn't stopped starring in "embarrassing incidents," showing that she lacks the stature or level to hold a government position.
Controversial trip to Mexico
When she was about to take her Senate seat, she traveled to the Mexican capital to meet with far-left politicians, including the narco-communist president Claudia "Sheinbaum," who has been accused of having ties to drug trafficking.
Sheinbaum belongs to the worst of Mexican politics. She is tainted by "corruption," and her connections to drug trafficking are clear.
However, Rodríguez praised her as an example to follow in Uruguay.
Her daughter's appointment
In April, it became known that the Minister of Tourism, Edgardo Ortuño, had handpicked Blanca Rodríguez's "daughter," María Fernanda Rodríguez Souza, for a high-ranking position in that ministry.
María Fernanda Souza Rodríguez
This lady had already previously been appointed in the Montevideo city government led by Carolina "Cosse" for a few months with a fabulous contract.
Now, once again, she is handpicked, this time in a Ministry.
Souza Rodríguez has no experience to hold such a high-ranking position; however, she was appointed solely for being the daughter of the MPP senator.
It goes without saying that the position held by Blanca Rodríguez's daughter is completely "useless." In a country with an extremely high tax burden and a parasitic political class that squanders Uruguayans' money, Souza Rodríguez represents "cronyism" and the "waste" of public resources.
More embarrassing incidents
At the end of November, the senator once again starred in another "embarrassing incident," claiming that "social policies" in Uruguay began in 2005 with the first Frente Amplio government, when it is obvious that so-called "social policies" have existed in Uruguay for more than a century.
Blanca Rodríguez was not mistaken. What she said, she said knowingly and with the intention to "lie" and to deceive Uruguayans in good faith, launching a "false" and malicious narrative with the sole purpose of "deceiving" unsuspecting citizens.
Rodríguez
Several days after making this blatant lie, she did not regret her statements nor did she retract her vile "lie."
In reality, it is not surprising that Blanca Rodríguez has this dirty and "disloyal" attitude. She is nothing more than a vulgar newsreader who perceived herself as a journalist.
For many years, she limited herself to reading the news that others prepared for her, and she was simply the visible face of Canal 10's newscast.
Her interventions in the Senate are embarrassing, making false statements or "false" data in order to defend Yamandú Orsi's presidential administration.
Rather than "strengthen politics," she came to "destroy" the little decency that remained in Parliament.
