From Derecha Diario Uruguay, we published a tweet a few days ago from Gonzalo Alonso, a student at the Catholic University of Uruguay, in which he referred to "killing military personnel."
At the time —and we still believe— that the decision to publish it made perfect journalistic sense. In the current context of concern over the resurgence of violent discourse in certain sectors of the Uruguayan left, any message of that nature circulating on social media deserves to be highlighted and brought into public debate.
Subsequently, Gonzalo Alonso contacted us, requested the removal of the publication, and explained that it was a misunderstanding: according to his version, the message was part of a role-playing context or irony among acquaintances and was taken out of context.
