The Florida Departmental Executive announced on July 15, 2025, a series of measures aimed at streamlining the use of municipal resources, with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing operating costs. These initiatives, presented as part of an effort to optimize public management, have caused both support and questions about their impact on the functioning of the local government.
Among the main measures, the suspension of mobile phone contracts for the mayor, the general secretary, directors, advisors, and various municipal departments stands out. In addition, a detailed analysis of the costs and benefits of landline services has begun, seeking to identify potential savings.

The Executive also ordered a 50% reduction in authorized overtime, using the previous month as a reference, and greater control over per diems, which must strictly comply with current regulations. Furthermore, a survey of all ongoing contracts was ordered to assess their suitability, along with the temporary suspension of existing compensations in the local government, which will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Other actions include the interruption of advertising expenses for at least three months, an inventory of machinery, vehicles, and unused scrap for subsequent public auction, and the relocation of municipal offices to owned premises, canceling most leases. Finally, a proposal for incentivized retirement for employees was submitted to the Departmental Board, fulfilling a campaign commitment by the mayor.
