Whenever the left governs, in any country in the world, it seeks to destroy education, especially public education, in order to more easily dominate the population.
No matter how much leftist politicians and union leaders fill their mouths talking about "defending public education," when they are in power they do exactly the opposite, destroying critical thinking and using classrooms to indoctrinate young people in their perverse ideology.
However, the same leaders who do everything possible to undermine education boast about university degrees they do not have.
The Sendic case
During Tabaré Vázquez's second administration (2015-2020), then Vice President Raúl Sendic, son of the Tupamaro terrorist of the same name, claimed that he was a graduate in human genetics from the University of Havana.
Even Mujica and Lucía Topolansky claimed they had seen the diploma.

But it was all a gigantic lie, and Sendic never obtained that degree. He lied shamelessly and that led him to resign from the vice presidency.
Until the very last moment he claimed to have the diploma in human genetics, displaying a psychopathic personality profile.
Graciela Villar, another liar
Another case occurred in the 2019 presidential election, where the then presidential candidate of Frente Amplio, Daniel Martínez, had Graciela Villar as his running mate.
This woman had been a departmental councilor in Montevideo and publicly presented herself as a psychologist.
However, this was false. Villar never obtained a university degree in psychology. She was criminally charged for usurpation of title, but the "companion prosecutor's office" never investigated the situation.
