The PIT-CNT Broad Front union has called a strike for Tuesday, August 12, under the slogan "The people first. More jobs and wages: a better Uruguay."
The strike includes partial strikes (from 9:00 to 13:00) and full 24-hour strikes in several sectors, with a central demonstration at 10:00 at the University of the Republic (Udelar) in Montevideo, followed by a march to Plaza Libertad.
A political strike
Once again, the union bureaucracy paralyzes the country for partisan political purposes.
The union bureaucracy, which doesn't work but still collects a salary because they enjoy union leave, is pressuring Orsi's government to radicalize and move closer to Chavista positions.
