A 10-year-old boy died crushed by his 154-kilogram (339-pound) adoptive mother.

The mother sat on him for five minutes as 'punishment for misbehaving,' but ended up killing him.

A 10-year-old boy in Michigan, United States, died after his adoptive mother, who has obesity, sat on him for five minutes as a "punishment for misbehaving," crushing him with her 154-kilogram (340-pound) body.

The mother, Jennifer Wilson, told the police that the boy, Dakota Stevens, had run away from home that morning and was misbehaving when she retrieved him from a neighbor's house.

Wilson stated that the boy, who weighed 41 kilograms (90 pounds), threw himself onto the grass in front of the house, and at that moment, she sat on him while calling her social worker. The boy screamed and eventually stopped moving, according to the released court documents.

The woman explained to police officers that she thought the boy was faking being hurt until she noticed his eyelids turning pale when she turned him over.

In a court testimony, the adoptive mother was described as "visibly distressed" when the police arrived and found Dakota motionless and without a pulse.

The boy was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but the doctors couldn't do anything. Two days later, they disconnected the life support, only a month after he was placed in Wilson's custody.

The shocking security camera footage, discovered by authorities, shows a 20-second video where Wilson is sitting on Dakota's head and neck, killing him with her own weight. The boy's screams gradually stopped.

Realizing what had happened, Wilson desperately asked one of her other children to call 911. As revealed, in the footage, she is heard shouting the boy's name repeatedly when she realized he had stopped breathing.

Wilson could face up to six years in prison if found guilty. She was raising three other children in her Berrien County home, but a spokesperson for the Department of Child Services confirmed that her license as an adoptive mother has been suspended and that its permanent revocation is being evaluated.
