Despite rumors of a possible change of date or cancellation, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) finally decided to maintain the strike that will paralyze activity from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 March in the First Division and all categories of Argentine football.
The protest was triggered in response to a complaint filed by the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) against the AFA for alleged irregularities in the payment of taxes and withholding, which led to the summons to the investigation of the corrupt Claudio” Chiqui” Tapia, president of the AFA, and his right-hand man, the treasurer Pablo Toviggino, among other leaders of the parent company of
Argentine football.
The force measure was unanimously approved by the clubs in the Executive Committee, with the exception of Estudiantes de La Plata, who were not present, and seeks to express solidarity with the leadership of the agency, who maintains that there is no enforceable debt and that the payments in question were made voluntarily before their respective maturities, a proposal that has already been submitted to the Court of Appeals for resolution
