The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the despondent Ayatollah, is in a coma and seriously injured in a hospital in Tehran, according to reports cited by various international media.

According to these versions, the Iranian dictator not only remains interned in critical condition, but he is also unaware of the war taking place in the Middle East and does not know that he was appointed leader of the Islamic Republic.

Mojtaba, 56, assumed the leadership of the country after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed on February 28 in an air strike. However, soon after that event, the new leader was seriously injured during another attack and was transferred to the Sina University Hospital, where he remains hospitalized under strict security measures

.

According to a source cited in the reports, the leader is in intensive care while an important part of the hospital was cordoned off to ensure his protection.

The situation of Mojtaba

Due to his poor state of health, the new Iranian leader would be unaware of several recent events, including the ongoing war, the death of close members of his family, including his wife and son, and his own

election as supreme leader.

It is not clear if Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the same air strike that ended his father's life.

However, a source who sent secret messages to an exiled dissident in London described the Iranian leader's medical condition as extremely serious.

“One or two of his legs have been amputated. You also have a perforated liver or stomach. Apparently, he's in a coma,” say the international media, according to the source

.

The source, who requested to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, also indicated that the new Iranian leader is being treated by the country's Minister of Health, Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, who is considered one of Iran's leading trauma surgeons.

The

United States also referred to the situation. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth publicly stated that the new Iranian leader is injured and in a delicate physical

condition.

“We know that the new leader, supposedly not so supreme, is wounded and probably disfigured,” he said during a press conference.

Iran's leadership Meanwhile, within Iran

, doubts are growing as to who is actually running the country in the midst of the conflict. Some reports indicate that several military commanders have not received direct orders from the new supreme leader

.

An Iranian official quoted by British media described the climate of uncertainty that exists within the country: "Nobody knows anything about Mojtaba, whether he is alive or dead, or how seriously injured he is.”

They add: "We've all been told simply that he's hurt. He has no control over the war because he's not here. Most commanders, or rather, all commanders, have no news from him

.”

Questions about his whereabouts and state of health increased after a statement attributed to the supreme leader in connection with the regional conflict was released. In that message, which was read on the regime's state television, it was stated that Iran would not refrain from avenging the “blood of its

martyrs”.

In the public absence of the leader, some reports indicate that the country is being de facto led by regional commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who allegedly received orders to continue fighting even without direct leadership from the highest authority of the State.

In addition to the uncertainty about his physical state, there are testimonies about his ideological profile. A former classmate of Mojtaba Khamenei said that the new leader would be “obsessed with the end of days” and described him as “more dangerous” than his father, adding even more concern in the midst of the current scenario of tension in

the region.
