The new supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, issued his first public message since taking power after the death of his father, although he still does not appear physically before the population.
In a message read on Iranian state television, the new head of the regime assured that Iranian forces must keep the strategic Strait of Hormuz closed, one of the most important energy corridors on the planet.
“The lever to block the Strait of Hormuz must be used definitively,” said the Ayatollah in the statement transmitted by official media.
A key part of the oil and gas that supplies the world market usually passes through this maritime route, making any threat to the passage a factor with a strong geopolitical impact.
Tribute to the old regime and support for allied militias
During the message, Mojtaba Khamenei recalled his father, the late supreme leader Ali Khamenei, and also mentioned the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini
.The new leader of the regime also praised what he called “resistance front fighters”, a reference to armed organizations linked to Tehran.
Among them, he mentioned:

Khamenei also urged countries in the region to expel what he called “invading forces”, in reference to the military bases of
