The government of Bolivia reaffirmed its decision to confront the blockades affecting several regions of the country and assured that the Armed Forces will act within the legal framework to contribute to the restoration of order. The message was conveyed by the Minister of Defense, Ernesto Justiniano, who stated that the Army will maintain a conduct based on “legality and calm” in the face of the crisis the nation is experiencing.
The statements come amid weeks of protests and roadblocks that have caused supply problems, difficulties in the transportation of goods, and growing concern about the economic and social impact of the crisis. In several cities, shortages of fuels, food, and other essential products have been reported.

Justiniano emphasized that the security forces have the responsibility to guarantee the free movement of people and goods, while also stressing that all actions of the State will be carried out in accordance with the Constitution and current laws. The pronouncement comes just days after Congress approved new legal tools to address exceptional situations and following several successful operations that allowed the reopening of strategic corridors to La Paz. The government of Rodrigo Paz believes that restoring circulation on the main routes is essential to alleviate pressure on markets and restore normalcy in the most affected cities.
From the Executive, they maintain that the blockades have caused significant economic losses and have particularly harmed workers, merchants, and producers who depend on land transportation to carry out their activities. Therefore, authorities insist that the right to protest cannot imply the indefinite paralysis of the country or jeopardize the supply for the population.
