An evening of boxing in Turkey ended in scandal.

The fight in Trabzon between local Emirhan Kalkan and Russian Sergei Gorokhov, for a Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) title, was suspended and then canceled due to a pitched battle inside and outside the ring.

It all started at the end of the third round, when the first crosses emerged between members of both teams. What began as an exchange of insults on street corners quickly escalated to pushes and blows between members from every corner. In a matter of seconds, the situation completely spilled over. Several people invaded the ring and joined the fight, including fans who were in the front rows. The ring became the epicenter of a chaotic scene, with dozens of people exchanging blows

without distinction.

The images released showed the magnitude of the conflict: chairs and objects flying from the stands, bloodied people and an environment impossible to control. Security personnel tried to intervene, but were overcome by widespread violence that even spread outside

the ring.

Faced with this scenario, the referee decided to permanently suspend the fight, leaving the title vacant and unresolved. Subsequently, the authorities launched an investigation to determine responsibilities and clarify how a sporting event ended in an episode of collective violence

.

After what happened, Kalkan took aim at the rival team because of what happened: “What was the opponent's coach doing in our corner? We have always stood for fair play, his gestures stoked the situation.

”

What promised to be a high-level night was overshadowed by a scandal that once again calls into question safety at sporting events.
