The Government of the City of Buenos Aires announced a new housing plan that contemplates the construction of housing for middle class families and members of the Buenos Aires Police using funds that were previously earmarked for the development of villas. The measure was presented by the head of government Jorge Macri, who stressed that the objective is to prioritize access to housing for “people who work and strive
”.The initiative will be implemented through the City Housing Institute (IVC) and the City Bank, with a scheme that will combine infrastructure development and subsidized mortgage financing.
The Buenos Aires Government will build almost 400 new homes
.The plan envisages the construction of 379 homes in different neighborhoods of the city, distributed in three main developments: 190 units on
Varela Avenue 2951, in Villa Soldati
136 units in Cochabamba 1150, in Constitución.
53 units on Avenida La Plata 2253, in Parque Chacabuco.
This last property had been usurped for more than 20 years and was recovered by the current management last November as part of the policy of recovering seized properties.

Jorge Macri: “Everything is over” During the
presentation of the project, Jorge Macri defended the change in focus on housing policy in Buenos Aires and said: “With the money that used to be used to give away housing in the villas, we are going to build new
ones for middle
class families and for police officers.”In addition, he added:
“It will be home to people who work, to those who comply and to those who strive every day to get ahead. It's over and it's all worth it.”
The president also pointed out against previous administrations for the abandonment of numerous public buildings in the City.
