The governor of Mendoza, Argentina, Alfredo Cornejo, defended the new unified controls scheme with San Luis, Argentina after the signing of an interjurisdictional agreement in Desaguadero.
“We seek to make life easier for people without giving up security,” said the president.
The agreement aims to improve coordination between provinces and optimize controls in a key corridor in the country.
Integration to combat crime
Cornejo stressed that the main advance is the integration of databases to strengthen crime prevention
.“Crime has a lot of resources and the State needs to better organize its own,” he said.
The new system will make it possible to detect with greater precision:
stolen vehicles
, adulterated patents
, suspicious movements.
A strategic corridor with high traffic
The Desaguadero pass was identified as a key point through which thousands of people and goods circulate
.As explained by the governor, traditional controls generated unnecessary delays and duplication.
“Long lines made it difficult to get around and weren't always effective,” he said.
End of duplicate controls
The new scheme eliminates the overlap of controls between provinces
.The unification seeks to:
streamline traffic
, reduce waiting times
, facilitate commercial activity
