Alan “Veneno” Chaves had an important performance in his international debut. The San Miguel native defeated Mexican Miguel Madueño by knockout in the third round in Las Vegas, remained undefeated and retained the lightweight Latin title of the
World Boxing Organization (WBO).
The 25-year-old Argentinian boxer didn't feel the level jump or the stage. In his first fight in the United States, he showed personality from the start against an experienced rival and built a solid performance until he found the final blow.
The resolution came in the third round. After two rounds of study, Chaves stood in the center of the ring and, in a precise counterattack, hit a powerful left-handed blow that sent Madueño to the canvas, who could not recover. The clean and resounding knockout sealed a victory that quickly went around the world.
With this victory, the Argentine raised his record to 22 victories, 19 of them on the fast track, and no defeat, consolidating himself as one of the
strongest promises in the category.
The performance did not go unnoticed in the international environment. The fight took place under the promotion of Matchroom Boxing, and its owner, Eddie Hearn, highlighted the performance of the Buenos Aires native with a strong message: “A Star Is Born”.
Chaves, the third generation of a family linked to boxing, a legacy that dates back to his grandfather Rudecindo, the sparring of Víctor Galíndez and Carlos Monzón, confirmed his growth and took a key step in his career. In a highly competitive division, his victory in Las Vegas positions him as a name to follow in the short term
.
Beyond the result, the way in which he solved his first major international test left a clear signal: the “Poison” is ready to be measured in larger scenarios and begin to be projected into more demanding fights.
