The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) confirmed this Wednesday that the 2031 World Basketball Championship will be held in France, marking the return of the tournament to the European continent after several editions in Asia. The event will take place between August 29 and September 14 and will be held in Paris, Lille and Lyon. The French capital will reportedly host both the opening match and the final phase of the
championship.The designation was defined at a recent meeting of the organization's Central Board, which chose France as the host for the first time in the history of the basketball World Cup. The event joins a series of major sporting events recently organized by the country, such as the Rugby World Cup 2023 and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
