The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out one of the most complex military operations since the beginning of the confrontation with Iran and destroyed the underground bunker used by the Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in the heart of Tehran.
According to information released by Israeli media, the attack was carried out by around 50 Israeli Air Force warplanes, which dropped nearly 100 guided bombs on the facility.
The operation was carried out with intelligence information obtained over years by specialized units of the Israeli army, which allowed a high-precision attack against one of the nerve centers of power of the Iranian regime.
The main objective was to destroy the underground bunker that functioned as a strategic refuge and emergency command center for the military leadership of the regime.
A bunker designed for conducting war
The attacked infrastructure was located under the so-called regime's leadership complex in Tehran, a highly protected area where the main offices of Iranian political and military power operate
.
According to the IDF, the bunker extended under several streets and included:
strategic meeting rooms
,
military command centers
,
multiple underground accesses
,
reinforced protection systems
.
The complex had been designed to allow the Iranian leadership to continue operating even in the event
of open war.
The Israeli intelligence units 8200 (specialized in signal intelligence) and 9900 (visual intelligence) mapped the place for years, allowing us to know in detail the internal structure and to execute the attack with surgical precision.
The attack comes after the death of Khamenei
The destruction of the bunker comes a few days after Ali Khamenei died during a previous bombing of
the same compound in Tehran.
In that initial attack, eight senior officials of the Iranian regime also died, in what represented one of the hardest blows to the Islamic Republic's power structure in decades.
Despite the removal of the supreme leader, Israeli military authorities maintain that the complex continued to be used by other regime leaders to coordinate operations.
For this reason, Israel decided to launch a new offensive aimed at permanently neutralizing that command center.
Israel intensifies attacks against the core of Iranian power
.
During the offensive, the Israel Defense Forces also attacked other targets within the Iranian leadership complex
.
Among them are:
the Iranian presidential office
,
facilities linked to the Supreme National Security Council
,
other structures used by the regime's power apparatus
.
These attacks are part of an Israeli strategy aimed at weakening the military and political coordination capacity of the Iranian regime, considered by Jerusalem and Washington to be the main sponsor of terrorism in the Middle
East.
Surgical blows against strategic infrastructure
Israeli military authorities maintain that the current campaign seeks to dismantle the nerve centers from which the Iranian regime conducts its military operations and its network of allied groups in the
region.
The offensive also aims to reduce the regime's ability to coordinate attacks through its allied organizations in the Middle East.
The bombings of the leadership complex in Tehran represent, according to military analysts, one of the boldest and most symbolic actions against the Iranian power structure since the creation of the Islamic Republic in 1979.
