In the final stretch of the campaign for the Barcelona presidential elections, Joan Laporta referred to the pass market and left a high-impact definition. The candidate for re-election ruled out, at least for now, a strong advance for Julián Álvarez, who had been linked as a possible reinforcement
of the Catalan club.During an interview with Cadena Ser, Laporta acknowledged the quality of the world champion striker, although he relativised rumors about his arrival. “He's a great player who, according to those who know much more than me, would work in the Barça system. He's not a player to kick the bank,” he said.

The manager also explained what would be the conditions for the club to evaluate a possible negotiation. “First, he would have to show his willingness to come to Barça, which is what we want from all the players that may interest us, and that it would be for a reasonable price. Then, it could be studied. But, as their pretensions are, they are out of place,” he
