MLS fined Lionel Messi after the incident with Philadelphia Union but he will be able to play

The amount of the fine applied to Messi was not officially disclosed.

What happened between Messi and Quinn Sullivan

The episode that led to the investigation occurred during the 101st minute of the match against Philadelphia. Messi had a heated exchange with Quinn Sullivan, a 22-year-old American player.

The footage captured the Argentine forward visibly angry and then touching Sullivan's head. The Philadelphia player responded, and both faced each other for a few moments.

The situation forced referee Filip Dujic to intervene, who separated the players to prevent the confrontation from escalating.

The action was later analyzed by MLS authorities, who determined that Messi violated the competition's rules regarding contact with hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent.

Inter Miami needs to win again

With the disciplinary resolution confirmed, Lionel Messi will be able to play against Toronto FC and will once again be one of Inter Miami's main weapons to try to return to victory.
