The United States ambassador to Argentina, Peter Lamelas, expressed strong support for Javier Milei and highlighted the commitment of the Donald Trump administration to economic reforms in Argentina, in a context of growing bilateral alignment
.The statements came during his participation in the annual event of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, held at the Buenos Aires Convention Center.
There, the diplomat emphasized the central objective of his administration: “To work with the Government of President Milei and with the private sector to ensure that Argentina returns to growth with more economic freedom, more stability and with the United States as its preferred partner.”

As he explained, his appointment responded to a direct instruction from President Donald Trump, who tasked him with strengthening ties with the Milei Government and promoting the arrival of U.S. investments. In this regard, he stressed that the country is going through a favorable scenario: “capital responds to conditions, to signals” and “today Argentina sends these signals: direction, order, transparency, signs of
clear opportunity.”In his speech, Lamelas argued that we are experiencing “the most dynamic moment in the relationship between the United States and Argentina”, and attributed this scenario to the alignment between Trump and Milei, based on “economic freedom, less regulation, more transparency and a strong private sector”. “This is not ideology, it's growth, it's development,” he told businessmen.
The ambassador also explained the approach to US foreign policy: “America first, America first”, although he clarified that “America first does not mean America alone, not alone. We need partners. America first means concrete results.” In this framework, he highlighted Argentina's strategic role, both for its resources and for its productive potential
.
“Argentina has what the world needs: energy in places like Vaca Muerta, mining, lithium, copper, silver, uranium, agro-industry. It has innovation, it has talent, especially in technology, and it has a people with an enormous capacity to succeed,” he said
