A 28-year-old woman was released in the last few hours after being detained for almost a day after stabbing a 68-year-old man in a house in the town of Tolosa, in the city of La Plata. The incident occurred on Friday in a house located in the area of 523 between 18 and 19

According to the story that the woman herself provided to the authorities, the attack occurred after she discovered the man —who was renting a room in her house— masturbating in front of her two minor children, ages 9 and 7. Faced with this situation, the woman reacted and attacked him with a knife

Following the episode, the defendant suffered multiple injuries to his chest, neck and face. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the man seriously injured. After the incident, the woman presented herself to the authorities and confessed what had happened. During her statement, she explained that she had acted driven by the instinct to protect her children when she found the man showing himself in front of the minors inside
his own home.
The case was left in the hands of prosecutor Cecilia Corfield, head of the Functional Investigation Unit (UFI) No. 15 of La Plata. After hearing the woman's statement and evaluating the circumstances of the case, the prosecutor considered that the attack occurred in a context in which the defendant was trying to avoid a potentially more serious situation
.
For this reason, the judicial officer did not request the arrest of the woman, who regained her freedom after being in custody for several hours. However, the investigation is ongoing. The case was labeled as attempted homicide and the woman remains prosecuted as the
case progresses. The woman is now at large with her children.
In parallel, the prosecution ordered a measure prohibiting rapprochement between the accused and the injured man, as well as with respect to the victim's family, while the judicial proceedings are
taking place.
For their part, defense lawyers Isidro Dignanian and Juan Manuel Fontana announced that they are already working on the legal strategy to request the dismissal of women, considering that their actions occurred in a context of defense against a situation involving minors.
