President Javier Milei once again defended the economic direction of his Government and used the Lumilagro case as an example of successful adaptation in a context of greater commercial openness. He did this during an interview on the ArgenData program, where he also harshly pointed out against business sectors that live on protectionism
.In this context, the president was forceful in striking the contrast between those who reconvert and those who depend on privileges: “When the competition opens, there are some who want to do it and reconvert like Lumilagro, who is doing very well, or there are those who just want to hunt in the zoo or nothing and close.” The phrase summarizes one of the central axes of the liberal economic model: the elimination of artificial barriers and the promotion of real competition
.The Lumilagro case is especially significant. The company recently denied versions released by Kirchnerism, such as the case of the deputy Miguel Ángel Pichetto, who had falsely claimed that the firm was in the process of closing with mass layoffs. Far from that situation, the company reported achieving an all-time sales record over the past weekend.
