The president of the United States raised the tone against the Iranian regime and warned that Washington will respond with a devastating offensive if Tehran tries to cut off the flow of oil through one of the most strategic energy corridors on the planet.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, warned that his country will respond with an offensive “20 times stronger” if the Iranian regime tries to block the passage of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

The warning came after a new increase in tensions in the Gulf region and after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard claimed to have attacked an oil tanker over the weekend.

“If Iran does something to stop the flow of oil in the Strait of Hormuz, it will be hit by the United States TWENTY TIMES HARDER than it has been until now,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.

The president added that Washington has identified multiple Iranian strategic objectives.

“We would eliminate easily destructible targets that would make it virtually impossible for Iran to rebuild as a nation,” he said.

The Strait of Hormuz, a key point for energy trade

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most sensitive maritime corridors

in global energy trade.

Located between the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, about 20% of the world's oil circulates through this strategic passage.

For that reason, any attempt to block the waterway would have an immediate impact on international energy markets and global supply routes

.

Tension increased after the Iranian regime announced that the sea crossing was closed to traffic following an attack on an oil tanker.

The

United States reinforces its military presence in the region

In the midst of the escalation, Washington decided to reinforce its military presence in the area

.

The U.S. government deployed the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, considered to be the most advanced in the North American naval fleet.

The ship was sent to the Middle East as part of a strategic move in the face of increased Iranian threats against commercial vessels and maritime objectives.

The deployment takes place in the context of a scenario of growing indirect confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with attacks attributed to Iranian forces against vessels in the region.

Cross-messages about the state of the conflict

During the day, Trump also issued contradictory statements about the evolution of the

conflict.

At first, he said that the war with Iran “was practically over”.

Hours later, however, he adopted a more cautious tone and acknowledged that there is still uncertainty about the course of events.

The US president said that he still does not know “how far they can go” attacks in the region.

Washington is considering taking control of the Strait

Trump also revealed that his administration is considering taking full control of the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee freedom

of navigation.

The alternative comes amid increased cross-threats between Washington and Tehran and the risk of a wider military escalation in the Gulf.

The Revolutionary Guard responds with threats

For its part, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard issued its own warning to countries in the region

.

The Iranian regime's military body offered “free passage” through the strait to those States that decide to expel the ambassadors of the United States and Israel.

In its most recent statement, the Iranian military also questioned Trump's claims about maritime security in the area.

According to the agency, US warships are staying more than 1,000 kilometers from the strait to avoid Iranian missiles and drones.

The statements reflect the increase in geopolitical tension in one of the most sensitive strategic points in global energy trade.
