Lucas Martínez Quarta's last-minute goal kept the series between River and Palmeiras open in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. Despite the Brazilian team's 2-1 victory at the Monumental, Abel Ferreira chose caution ahead of the second leg.
"These are different matches, even though it's the same teams again. I don't know how it will unfold, I don't have a crystal ball. I know how we'll prepare. There won't be major surprises for either side," said the Portuguese coach after his team's 4-1 win over Fortaleza in the domestic league.

The Verdão coach also drew a parallel with another quarterfinal tie: "Look at Flamengo... the first half could have been 4 or 5, but it ended 2-1," he said about what happened against Estudiantes at the Maracanã.
Fully aware of how unpredictable these matches tend to be, Ferreira was clear: "We have to be prepared for anything. These are experiences, lessons learned. I know that no matter how much you want to control the match, there are moments when it gets out of your hands."

Meanwhile, he reaffirmed his team's ambition in this Libertadores: "The goal was to get a good result in Argentina to finish the match at home. I don't know how the duel will unfold, but I know what we want: to advance to the next round. That's what we'll pursue from the first minute to the end."
