The French team mutually agreed not to continue with the Australian driver in the 2026 season
Jack Doohan's time at Alpine has officially come to an end. In recent hours, the French team confirmed through a statement that the Australian driver will not remain tied to the team during the 2026 Formula 1 season, after reaching a mutual agreement that will allow him to seek new directions in international motorsport.
"The BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms that it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to discontinue his services as a driver with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allows him to seek other professional opportunities", the team reported on social media, bringing to an end a relationship that lasted four years.

Doohan had started the 2025 season as a main driver alongside Pierre Gasly, but his situation changed with the arrival of Franco Colapinto during the European winter due to poor performances. From the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix onward, the Argentine was designated as the lead driver and the Australian was relegated, in a context where his level ultimately failed to meet the team's internal expectations.
Despite losing his place in the main line-up, Doohan remained tied to Alpine during 2025 as a test and reserve driver, contributing to development work both on track and in the simulator. However, the collaboration will not extend beyond that season.
Meanwhile, the team highlighted his path within the development program: "Jack became the first member of the Alpine Academy to graduate and secure a race seat with the team when he made his debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix", they emphasized.
They also expressed their gratitude for his time within the structure: "The team would like to thank Jack for his commitment and professionalism over the past four years, both on and off the track, and wishes him all the best for the future".
Doohan seguiría su carrera en la Super Fórmula japonesa
With his departure from Formula 1 confirmed for 2026, Doohan is already analyzing the next steps in his career. In that regard, everything seems to indicate that he will compete in Japanese Super Formula, where Kondo Racing, with a single-seater powered by Toyota, would have him as one of its main contenders for the title.
