After the tax reduction, Argentina became the largest exporter of peanuts.
President Javier Milei has eliminated all export taxes on regional economies
Argentina closed last season consolidating itself as the world's largest peanut exporter, with foreign sales totaling USD 1.19 billion, the highest value recorded since 2002 and 12% higher than in 2023. The data, provided by the Argentine Investment and International Trade Agency (AAICI), reveal that the country accounted for 23% of global trade, surpassing historic leaders such as India, China, United States, and Brazil.
This export surge coincides with one of the most celebrated decisions by the agribusiness sector in recent years: the total elimination of export duties on regional economies, including peanuts, a measure implemented by President Javier Milei.
The reduction of export taxes, together with a favorable international context, caused an immediate boost in investments, planted area, and production projections.

In the last decade, the value of peanut exports grew by 80% and the volume by 18%, but the 2025 season marks a turning point. With the largest planted area on record, 530,200 hectares (1,310,000 acres), 23.3% more than in 2024, a record production of 1.8 million tons (3,970,000 pounds) is expected, 21.4% higher than the previous season.

80.1% of external sales (USD 955 million) correplied to raw shelled peanuts, followed by peanut preparations (12.2%, USD 145.5 million), peanut oil (7%, USD 83.7 million), and by-products from oil extraction (0.7%, USD 8.6 million).
Córdoba keeps its production leadership with 70% of national output, concentrated in Río Cuarto, General Roca, and Juárez Celman. Buenos Aires follows (17%), then La Pampa (7%), Santa Fe (3%), and San Luis (2%). The case of La Pampa stands out: with the new incentive policy, its production quadrupled the historical average.

The main buyers were the Netherlands (32%), United Kingdom (8%), Poland (5%), Russia (5%), and United States (5%), with the European Union absorbing 60% of total exports.
With the elimination of export duties, Javier Milei's administration scores a key victory in the agro-export sector, showing that tax reduction translates into historic records in production, exports, and international projection.
