After the victory in the Superclásico, Gallardo assured that River will reverse the record.
After Sunday's victory, Millonarios is just four wins away from surpassing Boca in the record books
River defeated 2-1 Boca at the Monumental, with goals from Franco Mastantuono and Sebastián Driussi, as part of the interzonal of the 15th matchday of the Torneo Apertura. Thanks to this victory, the Millonario managed to reduce the difference in the record: currently, the Xeneize keeps a four-match advantage.
With this fact and in response to a journalist's question, Marcelo Gallardo assured that the situation will be reversed. "We will keep narrowing it until we surpass them, that is my wish," expressed the coach in the mixed zone, after achieving his eleventh victory against the team currently led by Fernando Gago.

When the Muñeco took the reins of River in mid-2014, Boca held a ten-match advantage. By the time of his departure in 2022, the gap had already been reduced to eight matches.
The record between River and Boca
So far, Boca and River have faced each other 264 times, including amateurism, professionalism, and various cups. The current record is:
- Boca won 92 times (339 goals in favor)
- River won 88 times (322 goals in favor)
- They drew on 84 occasions

From 1913 to 1950, the Millonario minimally dominated with 23 victories over 21. However, in that decade the Xeneize gradually turned it around, leading 42 to 39. This superiority was maintained until the 1980s, when the Núñez team regained the lead with 63 matches in favor compared to 61 victories of the club from La Rivera.
Just 10 years later, Boca would win 4-3 against their classic rival in the 1991 Libertadores, once again taking the lead in the record. This would be the last time this record would change hands and would mark their superiority for over 30 years.
