Record in agriculture: Córdoba and the country settled $4.1 billion in July 2025
The agricultural sector caused 57% more foreign currency than in 2023. This is the best July on record, according to Ciara-CEC
Argentineagroexports caused a total income of U$S 4.102 billion in July, according to data from Ciara-CEC. This figure represents 57% more than in July 2023 and 10% above last June. This is the best seventh month since 2002, when the current registration system began.
The grain and oilseed sector was once again key in generating genuine foreign currency inflows. Exports of grains and by-products account for more than 50% of the country's external sales. So far in 2024, the agricultural sector has liquidated U$S 19.521 billion, 43% more than in the same period last year.
The entities that bring together the main exporters attribute this rebound to a regulatory factor. The end of decree 38/24 prompted an acceleration in sworn statements of external sales. Companies had to anticipate export duties to comply with the current legal framework.

End of decree 38/24 and impact on foreign currency inflows
This decree expired on June 30 and required pre-liquidation of 95% of contract value. This pushed many firms to register operations before the rules changed. For this reason, July absorbed part of the flow that otherwise would have been distributed.
Nevertheless, Ciara-CEC highlights that volumes reflect a good moment for production and international prices.Córdoba, one of the main production hubs, played a prominent role in this rebound. In the province, the increase in rural rents confirms the pressure on agricultural land.
With an average of 12 quintals of soybeans per hectare, rental values are on the rise. This is also a sign of good expectations for the 2024/25 season. The agricultural sector is aiming for greater profitability after years hit by drought and instability.

Historical comparisons and place in the ranking
The technical report indicates that July was the fourth best month in terms of liquidation in the last 23 years. Only September 2022, May 2022, and May 2023 surpassed it. This positions 2024 as one of the best recent years in terms of foreign currency generation.
The dynamism of agroexports is a great sign of Argentina's recovery, led by President Javier Milei. Meanwhile, the agricultural sector continues to be the main source of genuine dollar inflows. It does so without subsidies or state protection, unlike other deficit industries.
Exporters also highlighted predictability as a key condition to maintain the pace. They warn that constant changes in the rules of the game discourage business decisions. For this reason, they are calling for a more stable fiscal policy without interventionism.
