Ahmed al Sharaa offers to build the Trump Tower in Damascus to ease sanctions

The Syrian regime also offers the United States access to the country's energy resources

The new Syrian regime is seeking to arrange a meeting with the President of the United States,Donald Trump, during his tour of the Middle East, with the hope of achieving relief from sanctions, something the Republican leader stated he is considering.

Sources close to the diplomatic initiative indicated that the Syrian leader Ahmed al Sharaa is promoting an approach that includes proposals such as the construction of a Trump Tower in Damascus, the improvement of relations with Israel, and offering the United States access to Syrian energy resources.

Jonathan Bass, a Trump supporter who recently held a meeting with Sharaa in the Syrian capital, has been collaborating with Syrian sectors and Middle Eastern countries to organize what would be a "historic meeting" between both leaders, as part of the U.S. leader's first international trip to the region.

"Sharaa wants a trade deal for the future of his country," stated Bass, explaining that the proposal involves "energy exploitation, cooperation against Iran, and commitment to Israel."

Bass also added: "He told me he wants a Trump Tower in Damascus. He wants peace with his neighbors. What he told me is good for the region, good for Israel."

The new Syrian government, which has the backing of Türkiye, is struggling to attract foreign investments while continuing to face conflicts with insurgent groups and challenges to its authority since taking power after the ousting of dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Various human rights organizations have expressed concern about the risk of foreign powers supporting a possible ethnic cleansing directed against Alawites, Druze, Christians, and other minorities within the country.

This diplomatic effort comes amid rising tensions with Israel, reflected in the intensification of Israeli airstrikes since the rebels overthrew the former al-Assad regime last year. Although Sharaa confirmed that there are indirect contacts with Israel to reduce confrontations, the attacks have not ceased.

The Trump Organization has signed numerous contracts for real estate developments in the Middle East and in countries of the former Soviet Union in recent years. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Azerbaijan have been some of the destinations for these ventures. In 2022, Trump's firm closed an alliance with Dar Al Arkan to build a top-level resort and a golf course in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
