Attention Boca: a European club wants to sign Miguel Merentiel in this transfer window
The Uruguayan forward is one of Xeneize's key figures, and his departure will depend solely and exclusively on his release clause
Miguel Merentiel has become one of the most beloved players among Boca fans thanks to his commitment, his goals, and his identification with the club. However, the 29-year-old Uruguayan forward could make the leap to European soccer, since Sevilla, now managed by Matías Almeyda, wants to sign him.
According to various sources, the Andalusian club has already initiated contact with Xeneize, although negotiations won't be easy. Juan Román Riquelme isn't willing to let the striker go without receiving the 18 million dollars stipulated in his release clause. Merentiel, meanwhile, has already expressed internally his desire to move to Spain.

With a contract valid until December 31, 2027, the former Defensa y Justicia and Palmeiras striker was also previously monitored by Villarreal, according to journalist Martín Charquero. In addition, Zenit Saint Petersburg has also recently joined the list of interested clubs.
The situation remains open, but Boca doesn't plan to let him go easily, especially in a market where losing one of theteam's leaders and attacking mainstays could disrupt the football planning for the semester.
Merentiel's numbers
La Bestia arrived at Xeneize in 2023 from Palmeiras, first on a one-year loan and then with a permanent transfer for a total of 3 million dollars. Since then, he has scored 43 goals, provided 15 assists, and received one red card in 124 matches.

Regarding his other clubs, his most notable spells were with Defensa y Justicia (27 goals and 9 assists in 80 matches), where he won the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana, Valencia Mestalla (8 goals and 3 assists in 29 matches), and Godoy Cruz (5 goals and 1 assist in 29 matches).
