In recent years, expressions such as “dog son” or “cat son” have become commonplace in everyday life. Pets occupy an increasingly central place in families and awareness is growing about their well-being, their diet and the importance of a healthy coexistence with other animals and people
.In this context, Animal Day is celebrated in Argentina every April 29, a date that not only invites us to pay homage to dogs, cats and other species, but also to reflect on the bond that humans build with them.

The origin of the date
Animal Day is commemorated in homage to Ignacio Lucas Albarracín, who died on April 29, 1926. Albarracín was a key figure in the country's history in terms of animal protection: he chaired the Society for the Protection of Animals and was one of the main drivers of the first law that criminalized abuse
.This is the National Animal Protection Act, enacted in 1891, which marked a turning point by establishing legal limits against animal cruelty in Argentina for the first time.
The choice of date, then, is no accident. It seeks to keep alive the legacy of those who dedicated their lives to promoting decent treatment of all species
.
Beyond the historic tribute, Animal Day aims to raise awareness about the responsibility involved in living with pets. This includes ensuring adequate nutrition, veterinary checks, a safe environment and, above all, affection
