After being detained for several hours, Facundo Moyano regained his freedom on Tuesday night, although he remains charged in a case for minor injuries and unlawful deprivation of liberty in the context of gender-based violence. Before leaving the police station, the former congressman testified before the Justice and gave his version of the events that occurred with Candela Arizaga during the early morning in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano.

The statement was made at the Northern Flagrancy Unit, where assistant prosecutor Julián Pistone was involved. There, Moyano denied having exercised violence against his partner and maintained that he never prevented her from leaving the apartment.

"I want to say that my relationship with Candela, my girlfriend, has always been loving and affectionate. There has never been any kind of tension, let alone physical or verbal aggression. And neither on the day of the charges was there any impediment for her to leave or enter the apartment," he stated, according to the declaration that was leaked to the press.

After giving his statement, the Justice ordered Moyano's release, although it established a series of measures that he must comply with while the investigation progresses.

Among them, he is prohibited from approaching Candela Arizaga within 300 meters, maintaining any type of contact with her during the criminal process, establishing a residence, and appearing whenever summoned by the Prosecutor's Office or the Court.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities are seeking to determine precisely how the reported events unfolded.

How the episode under investigation by the Justice began

The case came to light during the early hours of Tuesday, after 911 received calls from neighbors alerting about a young woman running half-naked and barefoot along Avenida del Libertador in the Belgrano neighborhood, while a man attempted to catch up with her.

According to the initial reconstruction, the sequence began around 5:14, when Arizaga left a building located on Avenida del Libertador at 5400, where she had spent the night with Moyano.

The first images show the young woman walking behind her dog. Minutes later, according to the investigation, she began to move down the street in an apparent state of agitation, while the former congressman ran behind her.

The manager of a nearby building was one of the first to alert the Police. Shortly after, a second call came into the emergency system describing a similar situation.
