The man who attempted to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 self-identifies as a woman and wants the court currently trying him to use female pronouns when referring to him.
Court documents accessed by The Daily Wire reveal that a filing submitted by the defense attorneys for Nicholas Roske, 29 years old, states that the defendant now identifies as "Sophie Roske" and that "out of respect" wants the court to treat him as a woman.
The Department of Justice has recommended that Roske be sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempted murder. The defendant had already pleaded guilty in April 2025, three years after authorities arrested him in the neighborhood of the Supreme Court Justice carrying a bag full of weapons and stolen tools.

Excessive violence and hatred in the trans community
Attorney General Pam Bondi considers the crime "political violence" and for that reason seeks an exemplary sentence. This way, the head of the government prosecutors aims to send a strong message against anyone who attempts to harm members of the judiciary, as well as other public officials.
"This attempt on the life of a Supreme Court Justice was an attack on the entire judicial system that can't go unpunished," Bondi commented Friday morning. "This Department of Justice condemns political violence and our prosecutors will ensure that this disturbed individual faces serious consequences for his deranged actions."
A judicial source said that Roske already perceived himself as a woman even before wanting to kill Kavanaugh, and that the defense's filings confirm that change. It is worth recalling that Kirk's killer, Tyler Robinson, was in a relationship with a transgender person and the gunman who opened fire on Catholic children in Minneapolis last month, Robin Westman, also identified as trans.
These cases follow a troubling pattern and reveal a deep web of violence and mental health issues within the trans community. Sebastian Gorka, presidential advisor and director of counterterrorism, confirmed to the aforementioned outlet that the draft of the new United States counterterrorism plan addresses transgender violence.
