Kash Patel described the brutal attack on a church in the state of Minnesota as a domestic terrorist attack

FBI Director Kash Patel provided an official update on the recent shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where two children lost their lives and 17 others were injured.

According to information revealed by the official, the striker, Robin Westman, 23 years old, acted motivated by an ideology of hate, marking the incident as an act of domestic terrorism with clear elements of a religious hate crime, specifically anti-Catholic and antisemitic.

During the conference, Patel explained that the assailant left multiple clues revealing his ideological motivations. Among them was a manifesto in which explicit references against the Catholic Church were found, messages written on the weapons used, and hateful comments against the Jewish people.

The killer called for violence against Trump.

Phrases such as "Israel must fall", "Free Palestine", and "6 million wasn't enough" were found both in the striker's personal writings and in his social media posts and on the weapon itself. He also left a direct message against President Donald Trump, making an explicit call for violence on one of his weapon's magazines.

Westman had identified as transgender since his teenage years, although in his most recent writings he expressed frustration with that identity, writing: "I'm tired of being trans" and "I wish I'd never been brainwashed."

This fact becomes relevant considering that this is the second school shooting in two years committed by a transgender person against a Christian school, recalling the March 2023 attack at The Covenant School in Nashville, where three children and three adults were killed.

The FBI and the need to act in the face of an ideological threat.

In Westman's case, investigators found YouTube videos and personal diaries where a deeply misanthropic and violent ideology was expressed. In his most extreme writings, he used antisemitic slurs and wrote phrases such as: "If I ever carry out a racially motivated attack, it would be against the filthy Zionist Jews."

The content found was described by the FBI as disturbing and clear evidence of a radicalized mind, with the local and national community reacting with shock to this new attack on a school, especially because of its religious nature.

Patel emphasized that the nature of the crime not only responds to a broader ideological threat that requires urgent attention. "We are facing an act of domestic terrorism that seeks to sow fear in specific religious communities," he stated. For this reason, the FBI has intensified its monitoring of communities and forums where these types of violent ideologies may be proliferating.
