Five people were injured in a stabbing that occurred in downtown Amsterdam, near Dam Square, according to Dutch authorities.
The area, including Dam Square, was cordoned off and an emergency helicopter was deployed. A suspect, described as a young man with short hair, was arrested, but the motive for the attack is still unclear.
It was reported that the striker was stabbing people at random in the area, until a bystander managed to subdue him during the incident. The suspect was taken to the hospital due to a leg injury.
The attack occurred around 3:50 PM on Sint Nicolaasstraat, where four people were seriously injured. Despite the severity of the injuries, no details about their condition have been disclosed.

Witnesses reported that, after hearing a chilling scream, panic broke out in the area, with people running toward the scene of the attack. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and one of the victims was placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance.
The mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema, was urgently called to address the situation. The police have urged witnesses to share any images or videos related to the incident as evidence.
Although there were initially rumors of a robbery, authorities have opened an investigation into the terrorist attack, whose motive remains uncertain.
