Argentina already has the five tennis players who will seek to bring a new joy in the Davis Cup. Javier Frana, captain of the national team, confirmed Francisco Cerúndolo (25th), Thiago Tirante (42nd), Mariano Navone (48th), Guido Andreozzi (15th in doubles) and Andrés Molteni (61st in doubles) for the series against Turkey, which will take place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at the Ruca Che Stadium in Neuquén.
The matchup will correspond to the World Group I and will have as a prize a spot in the 2027 Qualifiers. Additionally, it will represent a special moment for the team: it will be the first time the competition is held in Argentine Patagonia and will mark the team's return as hosts after more than two years.
Frana admitted that defining the call-up was not an easy task due to the number of players who were in good form. "It has been a difficult process. Fortunately, when that happens, it is because we have a large number of players who have earned the right to be chosen", he explained.
Among the selected players, Thiago Tirante stands out, who is going through the best stage of his career. The player from La Plata recently defeated Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic in the Masters 1000 in Montreal and Cincinnati, respectively, and reached the quarter-finals in the tournament held in Ohio.
