The Argentine chancellor Pablo Quirno was the only foreign official invited to speak during the official lunch of the summit against the resurgence of political terrorism organized by the Government of Donald Trump, a meeting that brought together representatives from 61 countries in Washington and once again showcased Argentina's privileged position within the new international strategy of the United States.

The meeting was led by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who emphasized the need to build a coordinated response to the growth of violent extreme left organizations. In addition to delegations from the Western Hemisphere, representatives from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East participated in a call aimed at strengthening intelligence sharing and combating extremist financing networks.

Quirno was chosen as the keynote speaker for the official lunch, becoming the only foreign representative to receive that distinction. The decision represented a new signal of support from the Republican administration for the Government of Javier Milei and the level achieved by the strategic alliance between the Casa Rosada and the White House.

“It was a meeting that brought together various countries to express concern about a situation that is occurring, where we see an increase in violent actions sponsored by the left and the extreme left, which we must be alert to,” explained the Argentine chancellor after the meeting concluded.

Quirno stated that the initiative would deepen “cooperation, intelligence, and information sharing” among the participating countries. Furthermore, he warned that democracies must act before these organizations manage to expand their operational capacity and consolidate transnational structures.

“We need to have a very important degree of coordination, because what we are facing is an enemy that knows no borders and moves around looking for loopholes,” affirmed the Argentine official.

During the opening, Rubio recalled the criminal backgrounds of Marxist organizations such as Montoneros, Tupamaros, FARC, and Sendero Luminoso, and questioned those who have minimized the political violence exercised by extreme left movements for years. The Secretary of State asserted that these networks must be identified, defunded, and dismantled through a joint international strategy.

The plan presented by Washington includes greater cooperation among intelligence agencies, security forces, judicial authorities, and financial agencies. After the meeting, the State Department also announced visa restrictions for foreigners involved in financing, recruiting, or providing logistical support to extremist organizations.

Quirno's prominent participation confirmed the shift in Argentine foreign policy since Milei came to power. After years of isolation, diplomatic ambiguity, and alignments with authoritarian regimes, Argentina has regained international prominence and returned to a central place among Western nations.
