The Argentine astronaut candidate, Noel de Castro, declared her full support for Milei.
The young engineer documented her journey to space on Instagram, wearing a 'Make Argentina Great Again' cap
At a pivotal moment for scientific and technological development in Argentina, a young woman from Salta is making history. Noel de Castro, a biomedical engineer who is 27 years old, will become the first Argentine woman to participate in a private mission to the International Space Station, and she made her identification with the country's new spirit clear: she posed wearing a cap that reads "Make Argentina Great Again", a slogan emblematic of the current liberal government of Javier Milei.
The image, published on her Instagram account, quickly went viral. However, behind the symbolic gesture lies a story of effort, excellence, and merit. De Castro, a graduate of Universidad Favaloro, specialized in bioastronautics and is currently pursuing a master's degree in aerospace engineering. In 2027, she will represent Argentina in a space mission organized by the American company Axiom Space, in collaboration with NASA and SpaceX.

"I saw the dream of becoming an astronaut as very possible, so I decided to start aerospace engineering, which is my master's, and to train to see if at some point I would get the opportunity. Fortunately, that moment arrived," she stated in an interview. She added: "The country was very happy to support this endeavor and today we can say that we all agree to carry out the Argentine space mission."
The agreement, promoted by the National Commission on Space Activities (CONAE) together with the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Technology, marks a milestone in national aerospace history and symbolizes the new strategic alliance between the public and private sectors under a model that rewards merit, initiative, and individual talent.

"We hope that, if it is achieved, it will be a Latin American mission. Basically, we would go to carry out all the science. Many studies on radiation and treatments at the cellular level are being conducted, and we would try to continue with that research," explained the future astronaut, whose training also includes pilot studies, diving licenses, and extreme training.
The trip, scheduled for 2027, involves the use of rockets developed bySpaceX, Elon Musk's company. "Meanwhile, I'm dedicating a lot of time to continuing my studies, to further training as a pilot... and I'm also working closely with the country to promote the Argentine space industry," she stated.
Noel represents a leadership profile that embodies the values of the new Argentina: capability, freedom, courage, and vision. "You have to be an athlete and at the same time an engineer. There are many sports that help you with decision-making, such as aviation and diving. It's a career that truly pushes me to the limit in every aspect and it's very rewarding," she affirmed.
When asked about her family, she replied candidly: "They're super excited, but of course they also have their fears. Going to space is not a 'normal' activity. Fortunately, little by little they're becoming more involved in the space industry and seeing that astronaut safety is number one on the list. I feel ready to go."
