The Christian religion is once again under attack in the United States. At least four fatalities and several injuries were reported this Sunday morning as a result of an attack at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an institution located in a small municipality in the state of Michigan.
The police indicated that the shooter drove his vehicle toward the entrance doors of the Church before opening fire on the worshippers inside. Previously, a fire was reported in the religious building, which is suspected to have been started by the terrorist himself.
President Donald Trump issued a statement condemning the attack and calling for prayers for the victims and their families. “The suspect is dead, but there is still much to learn. This appears to be another attack targeting Christians in the United States,” the president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The police have identified Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40-year-old citizen from Michigan, as the perpetrator of the attack. His records indicate that he is a veteran of the United States Army who fought in Iraq in 2004.
Sanford's attack, in which he crashed his vehicle into the Church doors, exited the vehicle, and fired several times at people who were praying, is being investigated by the FBI as an attack targeting the Christian faith.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, informally known in the U.S. as the Mormon Church, issued a statement detailing that they are investigating the shooting with authorities and stated that they are praying for peace and recovery for all those involved.
Last month, a 23-year-old transgender individual named Robin Westman opened fire at a Catholic school located in the city of Minneapolis, killing 2 children who were praying and injuring a dozen others.
