Alpine made it official this Thursday that it will stop competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) once the 2026 season is over, with the goal of focusing its sporting and commercial strategy entirely on Formula 1. The decision, which had already been anticipated in the paddock, was confirmed by the brand's CEO, Philippe Krief.
"We have had to make difficult decisions to protect Alpine's long-term ambitions. As far as Alpine's motorsport program is concerned, although we regret not being able to continue in WEC after this season", explained the executive. Meanwhile, he highlighted the importance of focusing on F1: "Focusing on Formula 1 gives us a unique platform from which we can increase brand awareness in line with our product and market growth ambitions".

The exit comes just five seasons after Alpine Endurance Team's arrival in the Hypercar class, a program that it managed together with Signatech. In that period, the structure achieved only one victory with the LMDh A424 prototype and finished 2025 in sixth place in the manufacturers' championship with 86 points, far from the 245 of champion Ferrari.
