Baluchistan declared its independence from Pakistan amid the war with India.
Amid the great tensions with India following the terrorist attack in the Kashmir region, a large region of Pakistan declared its independence
On Wednesday, Mir Yar Baloch, a prominent Baloch independence leader, officially declared the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan, through a series of posts on the social network X.
In his messages, he accused Islamabad of systematic repression, forced detentions, and human rights violations since 1947, the year Balochistan was annexed to the Pakistani state following a military intervention.
Mir Yar Baloch stated that "Balochistan was never part of Pakistan" and that the Baloch people have delivered their "national verdict" by taking to the streets in various protests.
Along with this declaration, he shared images of people carrying what he identified as the flag of the new independent republic, calling for immediate international recognition and denouncing what he described as a "genocide" perpetrated by the Pakistani state.

One of the most important calls was directed to India. Baloch requested New Delhi to recognize the Government of Balochistan in exile, establish a Baloch embassy in its capital, and militarily support a peace mission in the territory to ensure its stability.
In his posts, he thanked the Indian people for their "unconditional moral support" and asked Indian media to highlight the Baloch cause. He also expressed support for India's position on the Jammu and Kashmir region, demanding that Pakistan vacate the area known as PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir).
The declaration has reignited historical tensions between India and Pakistan. In his speech, Mir Yar Baloch warned that the Pakistani army uses civilians as human shields in PoK and blamed Islamabad's military high command for the bloodshed in the region.

He also recalled the surrender of more than 93,000 Pakistani soldiers in Dhaka during the Bangladesh independence war in 1971, as a precedent for possible future humiliation if Pakistan doesn't relent in its current policies.
Balochistan is the largest and most resource-rich province of Pakistan, strategically located on the Arabian Sea coast, and home to the Gwadar port, a key piece of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
However, despite its mineral wealth, the region has been marked by poverty, underdevelopment, and a low-intensity conflict between the state and separatist movements for decades.

International human rights organizations have documented multiple abuses in the region, including extrajudicial executions, forced disappearances, and repression of political activists.
Nevertheless, both the Pakistani armed forces and Baloch insurgent groups have been accused of civil rights violations, complicating the situation for the local population.
Access to the region by international media and independent observers is severely restricted, making it difficult to verify the facts.
In this context, Mir Yar Baloch called on the United Nations to formally recognize the independence of the Democratic Republic of Balochistan and send peace missions to the area. He also urged the release of funds to issue official currency and passports, and to establish diplomatic relations with allied countries.

Despite the significance of the announcement, the Baloch independence movement faces numerous challenges. Historically, it has received little international support due to the region's geopolitical complexity and the fear of destabilizing an already volatile area.
While Pakistan insists that Balochistan is an integral part of the country, it has repeatedly accused India of encouraging separatism, something New Delhi denies, although it has expressed concern over human rights in the province.
The Baloch independence proclamation, in a context of growing tensions between India and Pakistan, could mark a turning point in regional balances. Although it has not yet received official recognition from any government, it represents a new phase in Balochistan's prolonged struggle for self-determination.
