Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranian people: 'Your liberation is closer than ever.'
The Israeli Prime Minister highlighted President Trump's support and sent a direct message to Iranian civilians
Amid Israeli attacks on strategic targets in Iran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly thanked United States President Donald Trump for his "firm stance" against the Iranian nuclear program and his "constant support" for Israel.
The Israeli leader's words come minutes after the attacks launched by the Israel Defense Forces against military targets in Iran, in an offensive aimed at destroying the Islamic regime's nuclear program.
"Time and again, he made it clear: Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons," Netanyahu stated, addressing President Trump: "I thank you for your constant support of our country throughout all the years of your presidency."
In an unusual gesture, Netanyahu also addressed part of his message to the Iranian people. "We do not hate you. You are not our enemies. We have a common enemy: a tyrannical regime that oppresses you," he said, in a clear reference to the Islamic theocracy that has ruled Iran since 1979.
"For nearly fifty years, this regime has deprived you of the opportunity for a dignified life," he added, in a call for hope.
He added: "I have no doubt that your day of liberation from this tyranny is closer than ever. When that day comes, Israelis and Iranians will renew the alliance between our two ancient peoples. Together, we will build a future of prosperity, a future of peace, a future of hope."
The Israeli leader defended the legitimacy of the military operation, asserting that his country is acting in self-defense and protecting the entire region. "We defend the free world from the terrorism and barbarism that Iran promotes and exports across the globe," he stated.
"Many around the world, even if they do not say it openly, know it deep in their hearts: thanks to your determination and courage, citizens of Israel, and thanks to the bravery of Israeli fighters, the world will be a safer place," he affirmed.
Netanyahu concluded his message with a call for unity and resilience in the face of what he anticipated would be a difficult period: "Difficult days await us, but also great days. What we do today will be recorded in the annals of Israel and all nations as a struggle for the triumph of good over evil, of light over darkness."
