Bethesda reveals a new DLC and free updates to enhance space travel and the gameplay experience
Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield will receive a new DLC with story content and free improvements that promise to make space exploration more appealing. Players will be able to enjoy highly anticipated features that optimize interplanetary travel.
The studio revealed that these updates aim to deepen the gameplay experience, with new mechanics and exploration systems. Although there are no official dates, they are expected to arrive alongside the PS5 version in spring 2026.

Improvements in space exploration
Tim Lamb, lead creative producer, explained that the team is working on making space travel "more rewarding." Among the new features, a possible "Cruise Mode" is mentioned for smoother movement between planets.
These features will not offer complete freedom as in No Man's Sky, but they promise to make journeys more dynamic and engaging. Fans will be able to notice significant improvements in navigation and in interaction with different star systems.
New story DLC and additional content
The new DLC will include original narrative content and minor gameplay adjustments. In addition, content from verified creators available in the Creations store will be added.

Bethesda stated that these new features incorporate "very interesting things," including functions that players have been requesting since the Shattered Space expansion.
Release details
An exact release date was not confirmed, although rumors indicate spring 2026, coinciding with the launch of Starfield on PS5. The original version, available since September 2023, has surpassed 15 million players.

Bethesda seeks to improve the perception of space travel, an aspect criticized by the community, in order to maintain interest in the franchise.
